The company

The company manufactures many top brands of children's clothes and supplies to department stores and small independent retailers across the UK. The company also manufactures for and supplies many leading retailers such as John Lewis.

The solution - InterSite Communications

To better integrate its sites throughout the UK the group decided to roll-out centrally-based systems to all factories and warehouse facilities.

Previously all sites had been connected using expensive and slow leased lines but with the advent of ADSL they approached Absolute Network Solutions who had previously installed and was providing maintenance on the head office and branch telephone systems.

Absolute Network Solutions recommended that they install a VPN based on connectivity through the internet. Not only did this represent huge cost savings but it also provided increased bandwidth and performance. Initially the equipment was installed at a trial site: this not only provided the blue print for connectivity of data but also provided a blue print for Voice site-to-site communications. Both the HQ and the branch office telephone systems were connected using latest Voice over IP (VoIP) equipment. This provides the company with the ability to call toll-free desk to desk/fax to fax. This solution has now been rolled out to all existing sites in the UK providing the company with improved and cost effective communications.

The Solution - Improved Security

To improve security and to cope with additional staff due to a relocation, Absolute Network Solutions installed a combined CCTV security system and Access control system which monitors access to the site combined with time reporting and "on-site" reporting in the event of an evacuation due to fire.

A total of seven IP-based cameras together with three IP-based access points were installed. All use the existing network infrastructure to connect back to a central server which provides management for the access control system and recording for the CCTV cameras.

The Solution - Replacement Telephone Switch

Due to the integration of another company onto the site, the existing telephone switch would not have had the capacity. Absolute Network Solutions installed a new Panasonic KX-TDA 600 switch utilising both the existing telephone cabling and newly-installed Cat5 structured cabling.
